Virtual Exchange is intended to be an educational approach that guides learners to develop intercultural competencies that enable them to live together in diverse societies and become agents of social change. That is quite a lot to ask of any experience, so it’s important to think about and plan for how you will create this opportunity for your participants, and how you will support them during the VE.

The chapter ‘Facilitation and design of intercultural learning processes‘  from the Council of Europe is highly recommended reading for you and your partner as it provides an excellent explanation of some of the pitfalls of intercultural experiences and how to plan to avoid them.

You may also like to consider whether it would be useful to have some training in intercultural facilitation.
